STARKVILLE, Miss. — In a high-stakes Southeastern Conference matchup, the No. 6 Kentucky Wildcats secured a 95-90 victory over the No. 14 Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday night at Humphrey Coliseum.
Kentucky’s offense was spearheaded by Jaxson Robinson, who delivered a season-high 27 points, shooting 9-of-12 from the field, including an impressive 7-of-10 from beyond the arc.
The Wildcats showcased exceptional three-point shooting, converting 16 of 32 attempts, a 50% success rate that played a pivotal role in their triumph.
The game was tightly contested, featuring seven ties and 13 lead changes.
Kentucky led 49-44 at halftime and extended their advantage to 14 points early in the second half.
However, Mississippi State mounted a comeback, briefly taking the lead with eight minutes remaining.
Key contributions from Ansley Almonor, who hit critical three-pointers during a crucial stretch, helped Kentucky regain control.
This victory improved Kentucky’s record to 13-3 overall and 2-1 in SEC play, while Mississippi State fell to 14-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
The win also marked a milestone for Kentucky’s head coach, as it was his 200th career victory.
Kentucky will look to build on this momentum as they prepare to host the Texas A&M Aggies on Tuesday in Lexington.
