University of Baylor head coach Scott Drew has not been able to get his team past the second round of the NCAA Tournament in the last three years, but he did lead the Bears to a National Championship in 2021. Let’s face it 2021 seems like yesterday compared to 2012.
Baylor’s men’s basketball program was struggling before Drew took over, but he revitalized the team, leading them to unprecedented success including a Big 12 championship and an NCAA championship in 2021. His achievement is considered one of the most impressive in college sports history.
While some Kentucky fans are worried that John Calipari will take his recruits and any current players that don’t go to the NBA, they need to understand that Drew has an impressive recruiting class of his own and several players on the Baylor roster that could follow him to the bluegrass state.
Mitch Barnhart is likely to name the next head coach within the next 48 hours, although it might not be the name that some fans are hoping for, Drew could be a perfect fit.
